If you like the bike and the company of bikers, then you'll be intrigued by what is happening in the city of Port Dover Ontario, Canada when the calendar conspires to produce a rare Friday 13. Billed as "the greatest cycling event in Canada" Port Dover 13 (PD 13) attracts more than 100,000 bikers and all 13 Friday at the city on the north shore of Lake Erie. Every Friday 13, the city closed its doors to four wheels, with the exception of local residents and providers, such as Port Dover became a haven for cycling and mountain biking.
The tradition started in 1981 when Chris Simons convinced 25 of his fellow riders to get to Port Dover Ontario Friday, November 13, meeting at the Commercial Hotel to celebrate the feeling of being a biker. They had so much fun they promised to return to the port of Dover on Friday, following all the 13 and 13 and the PD tradition was born. Some 26 years later, the hotel business has changed Angelos his name, but it still serves the staff of the 13th session Friday.
PD at 13, you will find all the dimensions, shape and riding motorcycles, Harley, Honda, Yamaha and the rest from standard models of road to great custom motorcycles worth tens of thousands of dollars each. You will also find a similar diversity in the riders with all classes, creeds and sexes well represented, as they descend on the Port of Dover for a celebration of pure bike. Many topics of conversation are covered at the event, often to do with bikes, such as performance problems, cost of tires, the escalating cost of motorcycle insurance and general day to day management costs associated possession of a bicycle.
The event has expanded as it now also includes a day of music featuring established artists. 2007, for example, saw a performance of Steppenwolf favorite Bikers' - creators of the biker anthem "Born to be Wild ". Because of its size and stature, the event is now worthy of sponsorship by major companies and, instead of resentment intrusion, many local residents to find ways to capitalize on the event, rental of lawn space for tents to selling ice cold beer and t-shirts. All day attracts media attention in Canada in 2007 and Toronto's Q107 Classic Rock, a station broadcasting live from the event, organized by Top Canadian DJ John Derringer.
Anyone can attend a Event PD 13 and it costs only € 220 for a rental weekend bike which also includes bike insurance to part of the largest motorcycle event in Canada.
