How do you change the shifter shaft bushings on a 1974 Harley Davidson Sportster?

The engine is on the bench, the trap is released and the chain Sprocked & cover are off. The housing must be opened again to shim the cam gear. Drift Out? hydraulic press? Hot / Cold? Push the old with the new?

Do not hold the cam gear. There was a service bulletin from the factory Harley (Service Bulletin HD M-0860) on the cam wedges. The manual Maintenance told to do, but they often end up chewed and laying in the bottom of your chest cam as bits of mangled metal if you are lucky enough not to move through the cam gear and connect them up and crack the case - which is most likely why Harley came with the service bulletin. It is better to let the cam work. I think your bike is the last year of changes on the right side Sportster? I am sure I hit my shaft shifter bushing with a deep socket on the outside casing and a socket shallow most of the other side to support the aluminum on the other side .... but it's been a while. If you do not have a tree shifter fluted This would good time to replace it. Stocks have grooves on them and the gear lever can move up and down the tree. They make a barb which is much better. Do not replace the rings came in the case outside, unless you absolutely need. They will need to be bored online if you replace them.

harley davidson oil filters

harley davidson oil filters
Hi. Can anyone suggest an alternative provider to the oil filter chrome Harley Davidson?

I pay $ 20 at the dealership Harley one now, and I average 2 oil changes a month in prime time with all the riding I do. point of sale at retail or online source 'll do what I reside in Ontario, Canada. Thank you in advance riders, DD

Even if they are more expensive I always use filters Factory HD. Filters have a HD screen of 40 microns and compatible with other brands you can not be sure what the score is. Micron rating effects the speed at which oil may move. If you buy "wrap ordinary" filters, make sure they are OEM specifications. You can get cheap here (as low as $ 5.00) http://www.jirehcycles.com in the "Gas / Air / Oil 'category

looking for Ducati Monster 2007 695 complete exhaust, stock or aftermarket?

just bought a ducati m695 and Rescue need a complete exhaust system (not just Slipon silencer) to make street legal. someone knows where to get a stock or aftermarket or would anyone sell me or give them

Check ebay, of course, but it is not a whole lot of transactions with this bike if you can not find your exhaust system. Check the back of motorcycle magazines. Usually there are a lot of companies rescue with listings in the back. Contact them or just search Google for motorcycle parts salvage. good luck. Check also a Ducati dealer. Perhaps one of their customers have changed their systems and did not care to keep the stock system ... you unless you do not ask.

Would you support that which keeps the headlights "cap" on a motorcycle?

I won an auction and he said he was leading motorcycle and assembly. In the photo was the flagship and the bracket that holds the headlights. The person who said he did not understand "cap" For me on a motorcycle fairing parts are plastic, not the medium that holds the headlights. Am I right? My impression has been torn! Thank you for reading.

Hi, I would also feel cheated. The party that holds the headlights is usually called a "Cradle" and does not part of fairing in any way. In affirming Headlight Assembly and the seller has agreed to sell its share. The Cradle does not double as a mirror Fairing and mount on many bikes though. If you purchased a full fairing from a motorcycle shop, you will not get the cradle with it. Hope this helps and good luck.

harley davidson battery charger

Where can I get a recipe from a 1995 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail feeder system free?

Well, the battery is not charged and I try to get a diagram of the system loader preferably in the owner's manual so I can see where the alternator and possibly replace it. I eventually sought a PDF of this manual Mercy, or anything in advance! I tried to google around 45 minutes, without any result.

I'll answer this question and I'll try not to sound like a bell total, although that may be difficult for me. The wiring diagram is on the back of the hand function, and if you start replacing items such as an alternator, then you MUST have a service manual to repair properly. First, you must verify that the alternator is the problem. You'll spend a fortune in cash and hours of time to install a part that does not solve the problem (and can not be returned to the retailer or anyone else) unless you check the source of the problem. A test system load starts with a fully charged battery. I suppose you have a volt-ohm meter to make with electrical testing, otherwise I'm wasting my time with your question. Make sure your battery is holding at 12.6 volts DC with the OFF button, if it is something less then you must charge the battery before testing the charging system. I do not recommend the use of a loader type car, but if you do not a battery charger motorcycle then use a car charger, just put the lowest setting and do not let more than an hour or two. I also recommend have tested the load to your store auto parts, they will check it for free if you do not have a load tester. Connections the battery must be clean and tight spec. Many pricing issues can be attributed to faulty connections. If the battery is fully charged, check the battery voltage with the engine running. It should be higher than the reading you got with the key off, for example, I expect an operating system to read correctly pricing 13-14 VDC at idle to 3000 rpm, but never more than 15 VDC. If the reading is over 15 VDC, then you have a failure of the regulator. If the reading is the same as OFF or less, then you have a charging system problem. If reading is much larger key, as 13 volts or more, then the problem is not the battery charging system. I begin by checking the output of the stator in the three yellow son out of the engine. This measure is volts AC, you can check this by unplugging the connector and the engine running while the connection of your son's test two of the son. This will give you the result for a phase of the stator, you'll need to check out the other two legs and check that the output varies no more than 10% between measurements. Imagine that the three yellow son are numbered A, B and C. The first criterion is the son between A and B, the second test between the son B and C, the third criterion is the son between A and C. Measures should be about 35-52 VAC at 2000 rpm or 19-26 VAC per 1000 RPM. If your reading are too low, then check the continuity of the stator with the key off using your meter to check ohms of resistance. It is the same place as before, AB, BC, AC, and there should be continuity between each son. Less than one ohm is preferable, 10 ohms indicates a problem, more than 10 ohms is a bad stator. I would also check continuity to ground, ie plug the cord test positive for one of three son and yellow wire to the negative test battery, make sure you do not have continuity to ground. Your meter should read OL or OFL on a digital counter, or hundreds of K ohm meter on the old school. Check all three son to check the continuity of NO ground. Any continuity to ground indicates a bad stator must be replaced. That's how you tell if the alternator is good or bad. A new service manual is about $ 60 from a dealer, less than half that on Ebay, and free from your local library. I checked all sites that have manuals free to download, and none of them carry your bike in particular. Email me if you have questions or need additional details.

How can you recover from the sinking of wheels 2000 Yamaha R1 motorcycle?

I hit a mallard and broke my wheel after put on new wheel can not aligned with the handlebars connot tell whether the fork bent

If you hit something hard enough to break the wheel, then you've probably bent the fork. Forks or slightly bent at the bike will handle poorly. Several ways to check for Straight off the forks of the bike and put them on something flat. Also, you can try to make a chain-weighted handlebars immediately and then measure the extent to which the fork is on either side, but it requires patience and absolute rest of the bike and measure carefully to be sure you've placed chain in the same place on both sides of the handlebars. You can also assess how the forks are the two ends of the swingarm.
