As its name suggests biketoberfest is a festival of motorcycling in general held in mid-October in Daytona Beach. Motorcycle enthusiast from all over the country and even some from Europe come to see and be seen.
Biketoberfest began as The Daytona Fall Tour, and was first held in October 1992. It all started when Janet Kersey was hired as director of tourism activities and promotions, she was instructed by the Convention Daytona Beach Area Visitors Bureau and create special events that attract visitors during off season.
The first assignment they gave her was to create a special event cycling, similar to the popular Bike Week, centered around racing annual decline of the American Motorcycle Association, which takes place every October in Daytona International Speedway. The event, called "The Fall Tour included a Daytona 125-mile scenic touring ride through Volusia County, lounges the motorcycle races at Daytona International Speedway and Bikefest - a series of activities offered mainly by the merchants of Main Street. The festival of motorcycling 5000 has attracted new visitors, mostly from Florida to Daytona Beach.
The success of the Convention and Visitors Bureau Fall Daytona Tour attracted increased interest from local merchants and the surrounding community. In 1993, local companies, especially Daytona Harley-Davidson sponsored concerts, trade shows and other activities. Under the direction of the CVB, during this period, activities Biketoberferst past 40 events in a period of three days, there are now many events to watch and maybe even some that you want involved in.

The crowd screamed their enthusiasm as these early racers put on a show incredibly dramatic. Even today these daredevils on extremely fast, high powered bikes take incredible risks that man goes and cons the machine on the platform top and corkscrew turns famous Daytona International Speedway. Racing is not all you can expect on the tour each year the Kickstand City goes into high gear with shows, demo rides and lots of activities for the next track to entertain you during your visit.
If you want to get completely put of the crowds for some quite solitude take your bike on the loop, it is like no other ride. It's freedom, sunshine, open road and graceful curves, this is a cyclists dream. If you have never taken this ride It's recommended strongly as you do. This walk quietly give you an idea of the natural beauty of Florida, you can check out nearby Ormond Park and see the tree Fairchild Oak - one of the oldest living Florida Oaks. Be sure to bring a camera, maybe even a picnic lunch and enjoy it. The loop is about 22 miles long and a must for riders who love the road and want to get a look at Florida's natural beauty.
So mark your calendars now for mid-October. Hotels are filling up fast to be sure to get reservations made ASAP too. Then gas up the bike, grab your sunscreen and head down to Florida for a few days of bikes, babes, beer and nonstop fun, fun, fun.
